VIsualisation and Success (Effortlessness installment 2)

How many times have we read or heard the term “Visualise”? The question is, do you really know how to do it effectively?
Here is what I have learnt so far:

Before we get started lets note a couple of don’t(s):
  1.  One, if you’re standing there at the bottom of the climb with your arms crossed ‘visualising’ the moves, don’t! This is wrong (I will tell you why in a second).
  2. Secondly, when actually using your ‘internal-eye’ to visualise the moves ensure you are looking through YOUR eyes, NOT watching yourself.
Now we have those two issues cleared up I would like to explain visualisation importance.
Take a BIG step back and look at the route. Scope up and down quickly, does anything stand out? Now, bring your eyes back to the first move. Picture EACH move. Chunking EACH move down one by one (visualising each point of contact) and ensure you DO NOT move too quickly, whilst doing this I want you to move BOTH, your arms AND legs into the position you would have been in (if on route).
This technique will feel a little a little funny and you might think you’re looking a bit odd but get over that. The truth is people will be impressed when you flash a route they can’t. The real beauty in this technique is that once you have run through this process it will be as if you have already climbed the route. (Do not underestimate the importance of neuromuscular pathways and memory).
The best part…..
You won’t have blown your onsite!!!!!!
